The Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs (GCYE) hosted participants of the WUSC 2026 International Seminar as part of an international research initiative focused on understanding how digital skills can be leveraged to improve employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people in Ghana. The seminar brings together young people from Ghana and Canada to promote global collaboration, cross-cultural learning, and research on innovative approaches to addressing youth employment challenges.
As part of the visit, the international seminarists held an engaging discussion with Mr. Sherif Ghali, Chief Executive Officer of GCYE, to gain firsthand insights into the Chamber's work in empowering young people and women through entrepreneurship, digital skills development, business support services, and strategic partnerships. Mr. Ghali shared GCYE's vision of building an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem where young people are equipped with the knowledge, skills, networks, and opportunities needed to thrive in the digital economy.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas on some of the critical issues shaping Ghana's digital economy. Conversations explored the challenges of digital access, affordability of internet and data, skills mismatch, access to finance, and the need for inclusive pathways that enable women and young people to participate meaningfully in the digital economy. These themes align with the seminar's broader research agenda, which seeks to generate practical recommendations for improving youth employment outcomes through digital technology.
The WUSC International Seminar will culminate in the development of policy briefs, systems maps, and a final research report to inform partner strategies and future programming. GCYE is honoured to contribute to this important global learning initiative and remains committed to working with local and international partners to create opportunities that empower young people, strengthen entrepreneurship, and accelerate inclusive digital transformation in Ghana.
